Hello Mark

I have been having a good look round your web site some really invaluable stuff glad you wrote it.

I have had a campervan and driver let me down with 31 days till I set off so I'm looking at options. Im doing the walk for a charity The Forgiveness Project the link explains more http://www.justgiving.com/Frankie-Owens

I have little choice but to camp and wondered about using a trolley to carry the tent, sleeping bag etc something like this http://www.directtoyourdoor.co.uk/black.html

What do you think?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best

Frankie

Hi Frankie.

Well... most people use backpacks to carry their things while walking, as it's difficult to pull trolleys over tough terrain, over stiles, along muddy paths and so on. If you've planned your route so that it is all along paved surfaces (such as roads), then a trolley might be a possibility, but I would definitely recommend a backpack over a trolley. It gives you so much more flexibility than having wheels, and backpacks don't fall apart in the way that trolleys inevitably do over such a long distance.

That said, a whole load of camping equipment can be pretty heavy, as I found out - I started off by carrying all my camping equipment but had to ditch it after four weeks, when I injured my foot. Then again, plenty of people carry heavy packs across the country, so I guess I'm just a weakling!

Good luck with the walk - that's a brilliant cause. If you have any other questions, feel free to send them my way. I'm happy to help.

Best wishes,

Mark
